Class Work - 9th Sept
Hi All,
Welcome to the BTEC Media course and apologies for not being there on your first lesson.
Task 1:
Throughout the year we will be using blogs to document work and publishing final unit work on a website which will hold your complete portfolio of work to be assessed.
Tumblr is a free online blogging tool which allows you to create a simple blog and submit a variety of different posts from video and images to audio and embed code.
Signup for a tumblr account at tumblr.com - It will ask you for an email address, password for the account (please write this down) and a URL this is the web address of your blog and can be of your choosing.
Feel free to play with the tool and figure it out but I will run through how to use it all in detail on my return.
Task 2:
Google production houses and film companies look at there names and logos.
Create a name that you will use as your imaginary production company eg. TDW Productions or Fast Film Direct. please create better names than these.
Start thinking about designing a logo - styles, images, colour pallet, fonts - This can be in the form of notes, collecting resources, sketches, brainstorms, etc.
This company name and logo will become your letter head on all official preproduction paperwork you create for your projects.
Task 3:
Weebly is the tool we use to create websites it works on simple drop and drag design and no website building knowledge is needed.
Visit weebly.com and sign up for an account. When it asks for your URL make sure you opt for a “xyz”.weebly.com This again can be a name of your choice but it makes sense for it to be your made up production company or name.
Again feel free to play with the tool and figure it out but I will go through it all next lesson.
Task 4:
My email is tdennison-white@thomastallis.org.uk I will use email a lot over the next two years to keep you informed and is a great way for you to ask questions and make me aware of any issue of absence.

Don’t forget to include your name and tutor group.
Task 5:
There are loads of online tutorial to learn new programs and techniques I particularly like freddiew on youtube because they produce high quality videos with a very small crew and budget then lets you see behind the scenes on how it was made. check out some of their videos or these sites
